As Automotive CUs go, so Goes the Movement?

Fortunately for the economy, the saying "as GM goes, so goes the nation" is not quite as true as it once was. Yet, the automotive industry as a whole still represents a significant portion of the U.S. economy. So would it be right to say that as automotive credit unions go, so goes the movement? You tell me.

Can't Believe it's the CEO!

Long, long ago, as the junior editor at a business magazine in Dane County, Wisc., I rang a good-sized bank to find out its asset size for a "biggest businesses" list we were creating. The CEO of the bank answered his phone, and I nearly fell out of my chair. Needless to say, he knew the answer to my question and I was well taken care of.

Do Your Members Know Your Directors?

Here in Charleston, S.C., today, at CUES Director Development Seminar, presenter John Oliver asked if any of the 92 directors in attendance (yes, 92!) had their pictures and bios on their credit union's Web site. President of Laurel Management Systems, Palm Desert, Calif., Oliver said he was in favor of doing this so that members know who is representing them.
